Hello, I am seeking advice on whether it would be worth it to take the MCAT a fourth time. My scores are 506->509->509 with a year between the 506 and 509 and a couple a months between the 509s. I am sure that this has been a red flag to adcoms as my cycle has not been very successful thus far. I want to know how to best spend my time for a potential reapplication..To note, I am Asian ORM, so am feeling like my low MCAT as well as the numerous attempts is hurting my chances. Would bringing my score up to the Asian matriculant average of ~514 outweigh the amount of MCAT attempts I have, or am I better off using my time gaining more experiences? Thank you!!

You probably should have stopped after attempt #2, to be honest.

You are correct that doubling down on attempts and not improving might be hurting your chances. This isn’t like the SAT - there is no super score and many schools will average your scores together, so unless you manage to crack a 520 your score will not go up to any large amount.

I would focus on fleshing out your experiences more. And be prepared to do both MD and DO (dependent on GPA and other pieces of context in your activities).

If you prepared three times for the MCAT, what's going to change? Are you going to do something differently that you feel confident will improve your score? if not, I would focus on the many other areas of your application. You may also want to apply DO and be fairly conservative in terms of the MD programs you are aiming for.

I don't think that another retake is going to help you, because it appears you have hit your plateau. Therefore Target schools where you are scores are closest to the median, or at least within the 25th percentile or higher. Include DO schools on your list

Welcome to the forums.

Usual warning: some schools will average all attempts, so a 4th score isn't going to help you without a significant bump up (+10 points).

That said, many MD programs have Asian matriculants with a 509 MCAT.

I haven't posted a full WAMC profile. Your profile needs to be solid and mission-aligned, but without a WAMC profile, you won't get many suggestions of where you could have a chance.

Here is the grid you should completely fill out so you can get good advice from SDN . ALSO share the schools you have applied to each cycle and the outcomes of any interviews.
