Hello,

I'm an international student that is studying medicine. English is not my first language. having wrote several essays in the past mostly i struggle from expressing myself and providing a good quality essay. Can anyone give me advice on how to improve my writing expression skills and improving the style of my writing in general.

Hm, you COULD read lots of writings (novels, newspapers, blogs, ect) and pick up what you like (vocabulary, phrases, idioms, tropes, schemes, ect).

Read. Read. Read. Write. Write. Write. Practice makes perfect! You won't improve if you don't practice. Also, looking at those vodeos that were posted would be a great idea.

See if your local CC or University has free English learning classes! My cousins who came from India for their first time had no clue how to speak english and they enrolled in these english clases and they speak it pretty well now! You can do it bud! Good luck!

Read. Read like you are a starved scholar.
My cousin just came from China, and after a few years, she can speak it pretty well. However, she would be much better off had she read more. I can't say anymore than that. As a person whose English is not my first language, I read. And after a while, it improves. Crazy, huh?

Thankq all for the replys. I have been trying to give more time into reading lately, yet mostly i read novels and im not sure how this may indirectly improve my writing. Mostly i just read and get involved in the story and just finish the book. Is there any techniques i should do while reading that will improve me?

to me just reading in general will always help you with grammar, while also improving your vocabulary - at the least. The only thing I'd say is if you don't understand a word while reading, make a note of it and find out what it means. Great for learning new ones in my experience.

Yes. Reading....you can't feel or see that you are getting better. Don't give up. Because every book you read, you gain some knowledge. You become a better reader.
Before you know it, your reading and language skills are ten times better!
Do write to at some point. Maybe a page a day. This will help too. Don't worry too much on grammar as this will improve-miraculously-over time. Just...read and write.
