Hello,
I'm currently studying this concept, and I've always been good at imagining occlusion concepts by moving my teeth in the same way as the material says to better "feel" what's written. It's just when it comes to this specific topic, I get completely lost. It seems that the references I'm studying from couldn't clarify it.
One reference says that:
For working side interferences, the rule of grinding is "BULL":
Buccal cusp inclines of Upper teeth
Lingual cusp inclines of Lower teeth
(To me this one seems to make more sense as the BALANCING SIDE, since, I think, that on the non-working side, the maxillary lingual cusp inclines that face buccally contact the Mandibular lingual facing incline of the buccal cusp). Am I right? Is this reference wrong?
-- This same reference mention of the BALANCING SIDE does not say anything specific on its selective grinding technique, but only confuses me more as it states the following: "Balancing (non-working) contacts are the Maxillary lingual cusps (lingual inclines????) and Mandibular facial cusps (lingual inclines)."
To me, this makes absolutely no sense as how can a lingual incline of a maxillary cusp contact a lingual incline of a Mandibular facial cusp? I might not be getting something here.
And another reference says that working side interferences are "LUBL":
Lingual cusp inclines of Upper teeth (Buccal cusps)
Buccal cusp inclines of Lower teeth (Buccal cusps)
(This one seems to make more sense to me)
-- This reference says that for the BALANCING SIDE, it's "BULL".
I'd appreciate it if someone with more experience than me could weigh in on this and set it once and for all, since I've spent hours searching online for any solid clarifications, but unfortunately I couldn't find any reference that's reliable enough for me to trust. I apologize for this lengthy post. Thank you in advance.
