Just wanted to get people's thoughts on self-study for step I. My school offers a review course, but I'm leery of taking it for multiple reasons I'll not go into. I plan to take about 6 weeks to study for the exam, and am just wondering if my time (and $$) would be better spent in a review class or studying on my own. Seems like FA, RR and UW are the highly touted study aides. Did people use these along side a class? Or just use those on their own to study for the exam? Any and all thoughts/suggestions/comments are welcome.

100% of my Step 1 prep was spent doing self-study alone. There are many variations on the theme, I know of people who have had great success using classes, studying with a partner or in groups, etc. Some people like the structure of a class, or being able to verbalize concepts off a partner and have active Q&A. It's all about knowing your abilities and limitations and how you best study. I was a solo studier during my preclinical years so studying for Step 1 solo was nothing new for me, and was what I felt to be the most efficient use of my time.
