I feel a bit silly asking this but is semester hours the same as the credits a course is designated? Just a bit confusing, I have never heard that term.

yes it is the same. if you have a chem class that says 4cr, a math class that is 4cr, and an eng that is 3cr, then you have a total of 11 credit hours/semester hours. hope this example helps!

Yes it is the same unless your college goes by units. Some classes at these schools will assign 1 unit for a 3 credit class, 1.5 unit for a 4 credit class, and so on.
