Howdy all,

I was recently accepted to a medical school that provides merit scholarships to some accepted students. My dilemma is that shortly after being accepted to this medical school, I was notified that a manuscript I submitted to a journal was accepted for publication. Would it be advisable to send an update to this school to notify them of my publication? Even though I've already been accepted, my thought was that it could help my case for the merit scholarship decisions.

Send it. Don't say it was for the purpose of merit aid.
Do you have any advice about contacting schools way later in the cycle when we're deciding where to attend concerning finances?

We can see where you have been accepted.
If you have received a recruitment scholarship (especially from a "better" school), let the preferred school know about it in the Spring. Depending on your perceived desirability and their endowment, the outcome will vary.

Thank you!

What if the COA is simply different and no actual scholarships are involved (aka one schools tuition is around 15-20k less a year)?

We already know the difference in CoA so it all comes down to the preferred school's perception of self worth. If they believe they are worth the differential in your case, there is little one can do.

Fair enough. Thanks! Appreciate it. I'll be doing this sooner or later once I get all my offers in.
