I already sent a thank you letter to them when I finished interviewing with them. But is it ok if I send them a letter telling them that I'd be a good fit and my spouse is looking for employment in the area? Or does that seem too pushy? I just don't want them to forget about me because the interview was in December and I haven't heard anything from them.

I don't think these letters hurt, although I don't know how much they help either. Make it short, list what you like and why you would fit there and tell them they're your #1. Totally legit.

This topic has been extensively discussed on this forum, and comes up multiple times every year around this time. If you search through the forums, you'll find countless opinions on the topic, with possible subtle variations. But the general consensus is that it won't hurt you and it probably won't help you, but there's a small chance that it might create a tiny positive subconscious with your name in the mind of the PD. Most PDs will tell you that they disregard this sort of thing, and people tend to say that you should only do it if it's consistent with your personality to send letters like this. You shouldn't force yourself to do it if it's not natural for you, because then it might appear contrived.
