Hey guys. Just remembered that I didn't get the ADA to send out scores to many dental schools for some reason. No clue why I didn't have them sent out everywhere, but regardless, I didn't. Is it necessary for me to go back through and have them sent? I notice AADSAS has a section that reports my DAT score, which I assume will be an official score.

I only ask because it is $25 a school. I don't mind doing it if it comes to that, because it is my mistake, but if I could avoid doing so, well I'll take that route.

Oh, I see where it says on the ADA website that if the school participates in AADSAS it will have direct access to my scores. So, I take it that I don't need to pay the $25 per school as long as they participate in AADSAS, correct? Just want to make sure I don't shoot myself in the foot here

I was on the same boat and found that on the website too. I took it the same way as you. If I remember correctly the ADA says that as long as you put one school that does participate in AADSAS then all schools that do will receive it. Also I remember asking my pre-health advisor and he said I dont have to either.

I called and asked AADSAS, they told me that you DO have to pay the $25 in order for the school to receive your DAT scores. It didn't make sense to me, so I asked if he was sure, and that I've heard otherwise.

I didn't even know what schools I wanted to apply to when I took the DAT. Why do they have to charge us $25 per school when the scores are right there online? I just don't understand why the extra money is needed because they're not sending official hard copies of our scores....
Ugh, maybe I'm just frustrated about all the money I will be spending in the next few months

Oh, this is a huge annoyance if so. I guess I'll try calling AADSAS, and also try to get a hold of someone with the DAT department (or whatever it would be) of the ADA and try and sort it out. I'm hoping you just talked to someone who was completely incompetent, haha.

I just can't wrap my head around why it would be necessary since the score is included in AADSAS. But as I said before, my fault if it is the case. =/

"DAT Scores Imported Directly into ADEA AADSAS Application

Applicants no longer self-report DAT scores in their ADEA AADSAS application. ADEA AADSAS will obtain your official DAT scores directly from the American Dental Association’s Testing Services Center and will import them directly into your application. If you take the DAT after your ADEA AADSAS application has been sent to your designated dental schools, an updated application, reflecting your DAT scores will be forwarded to schools just as soon as the scores are received.''

The ADA still says you have to pay on their website. Same old $25 per school. No mention of any recent changes. This isn't just some sad attempt on the ADA to make a quick buck now is it? I mean while they're at it they might as well just kick a kitten and punch a pregnant lady.

You do have to pay to get official reports sent to schools, but my question is if these reports NEED to be sent to the schools that are participating in AADSAS, considering the score becomes part of your AADSAS application. Most signs point to the $25 dollar fee being unnecessary, but I'm going to call AADSAS tomorrow and see what they say.
