Is it OK to send letters of rec from when you were an undergrad student that are 4 years old? Or would I need to ask the writers to send them to my letter of rec service again with today's date? This is for SMP programs. I'm also wondering what I'll need to do for medical schools. I had them write the letters specifically for medical school back then. I had a change of mind in my career goals and now I'm back on the same track.

Ask the writers to update them for the SMP. Hopefully, they've saved them. If they say they haven't, offer to send them back the copy you have so they can scan it in or recopy it. You can't send a dated four year old LOR, especially if it's for med school and you're not quite there yet.
