Two of the schools (Winston-Salem State University and Belmont University) I am applying to list the GRE in the admissions requirements. In the admissions process section, however, neither of them mention sending an official copy of the scores to the school. In instances such as these, does anyone know if GRE scores need to be officially submitted before an applicant can be reviewed, or does the school look at the GRE scores reported through OTCAS when making eligibility determinations. I have contacted both schools, but so far I have not been able to reach anyone.

I do not know about Winston-Salem, but Belmont does want your official scores reported to them prior to reviewing your application for interview eligibility. I suspect the safe bet would be to send schools the official scores if they say they require the gre, unless they explicitly state they do not require them unless you are admitted. Hope that helps & good luck!

Thank you Ohnemich! I just spoke with Winston-Salem State University, and they said I did need to send my official GRE scores in order to be considered for admissions. She also said to make sure you send the scores to the department, because they have been having difficulties with scores just sent to the school.
