How do I send my professor an online referral so he can electronically submit a letter of recommendation? I know for AACOMAS there's interfolio, but do you have to pay for it? When I click manage letters it acts as if I'm writing a letter for someone else.

Help please.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Interfolio is $19 per year plus $4 per electronic submission. I think you only have to turn one in to AMCAS and they distribute it to the rest of the schools. So I think there would only be 1 submission to AMCAS that you would pay for. I'm not sure if this is accurate, but it is how I have interpreted it.

With AMCAS you can use either their letter writer application (which is free), interfolio (which is not free), or virtual-evals (which, technically, your school would use for you). Regardless of the method, your letter writers will need your AAMC ID and the Letter ID that which they are assigned after you input their information into AMCAS.

In interfolio, I believe you need to first request a letter (typically confidential) before you can do any sending/management of letters. The fee schedule is available on their website.
