I am still taking courses, and the earliest I will be apply to DO/MD schools will be at the end of the Summer 2012. My question is about sending in things early like transcripts, even though I still have a number of classes I will be taking next year. I want to know my GPA calculations for both AMCAS and AACOMAS, so would this be possible before I submit apps, and then send them updated transcripts?

Mind you guys, I may not apply in the summer in case I screw up the MCAT, as well as if I do great (36+) and take an extra year to improve my app for MD schools. I guess my question is: Can I send my transcripts early to get an idea of where my GPA is, and send updated transcripts until I decide to send out apps (for the 2013 or 2014 cycle). Thanks!

I believe that you need to "open" an application. That usually starts in early May. When you open the application you can print out bar-coded forms that your college returns with your transcript. Then AMCAS or AACOMAS takes a few weeks to verify once you paid your application fee.

You could "open" an application for the 2011 year, (pay money to) have your transcripts sent and have it calculated for this year, then do it all again next summer.

So, in summary, if you want to pay all the fees twice just to get a number that you could probably calculate yourself then go ahead. I wouldn't do it though.

Look around for AMCAS and AACOMAS GPA calculator spreadsheets on these forums.. there's a few floating around. Just take 10 min and plug in all the info and you should have your answer (pretty close, if not exact)

Sounds good! Another scenario I have is that I may apply for the 2013 cycle and decide to wait for the 2014 cycle. Would I have to resubmit everything (transcripts, LOR's, etc.) again?
