When is it effective to send an update to dental schools about any new activities that you have done since sending in your AADSAS application over the summer? Like new employment, predental activties, extracurriculars, etc.
I know alot of people will do this if they are waitlisted for a school. But do people also do this anytime during the application process? For example, if we want to maximize our chances of getting into a school that we have already interviewed at pre-Dec or to maximize the chance that we get an interview at a school we haven't heard back from.

That is not exactly the type of info that will have a significant effect on the compass needle.

Not before December 3rd. After that I think it is fair game to send in fall grades and an update of what you are doing. Many adcoms at my interviews encouraged it especially around January if you haven't heard back.

What kind of new info would have a significant effect on the compass needle...or do you think that people shouldn't be sending in new info to dental schools throughout the cycle at all?

Having just celebrated Aunt Ethel's 95th birthday wouldn't be as exciting as any academic changes, such summer grades or new/improved DAT scores.

If this is post interview, minor updates are not going to do anything...at one school, the adm told me to update them if only a SIGNiFICANT update is there something in line with "i cured cancer" lol...but if its pre interview update, i think nothing can hurt ...

i would have to disagree... i had sent in my app early before i knew what i was doing for the fall. i got accepted to a grad program and then i sent an update to all schools. got an interview within a couple weeks... just saying, its better to show interest/activity early and often.

I would update as much as possible to show them that you are interested
