I am a senior at Indiana University and have a 2.5 gpa. I have finished all required classes for premed studies yet am aware that this sort of gpa is hardly acceptable for grad school much less med school. Does anyone have any info on post bac opportunities? I am looking for a school that I can attend to help my gpa and expand my studies to be in the running for med school. Any program is considerable to me so any advice is too. Thanks in advance!

Do you have some ideas on how you arrived at 2.5 and how to go about improving in your post-bacc? There are programs out there that will take, e.g. a 3.0 GPA or a 25 MCAT for admission, but you would certainly need to rock the program to be successful.

Then there's the matter of credits. To get to a 3.0 GPA with post-bacc, you will need about 60 credits of 4.0 work, assuming you will graduate with about 120. Approximately two years of full-time work, or longer if (like I did) you spread it out part time. And then you're applying with a 3.0, which really only works with a killer MCAT - and obviously the jury's still out on that.

You've got a long haul ahead of you. I know this because I'm on the other side of that haul. So it's possible. But be sure you know where you went wrong, and be darn sure you really want it.

Good luck! 👍
