So I just finished my 3rd year of undergrad as a kinesiology major. I was always pre-PT since the beginning of undergrad but just recently I've come to terms with my feelings that PT is just not satisfying enough to me. So I'm strongly considering the pre-med route. However, I have about 7 classes that I'd need to complete including orgo 1 & 2, orgo lab, bio labs & chem lab. I have about 13 elective credits to take senior year but my gpa right now is around a 3.0

My question is should I take gpa boosting classes for my elective credits and take the 7 classes at a community college/local 4 year university or take the risk and take some my senior year and risk a overall 3.2 gpa? Is it frowned upon to take these core classes at a cc?

I think its viewed negatively when you take pre-reqs at a CC when you could have taken them at a 4-year.

Even when the reason is legitimate? I go to a Big10 school so the tuition is already steep. Really don't want to waste $$ but I'd do it if Im going to get side eyed by med schools

We tend to look down upon taking the weeding courses at CCs.

How are you going to handle med school, which is at least 5x harder than anything you're dealing with now, if you're worried about this one semester?????

I was under the impression that DO schools didn't care about CC coursework. Would it matter if it was say an anatomy class

We're more lenient on people who need to save $ and who spend the first two years at a CC, or try to knock off a course here and there at a CC, but the pre-reqs will go further from an Adcom's viewpoint if you take them at a 4 year school. Overall, I'm OK with CC credits, but I have colleagues who say "this kid took X credits at a CC" meaning s/he took the easy way out.

Again, no med school is doing you any favors by admitting you if you can't handle the curriculum....which is what you're saying.
