So I just received some of my fall semester senior year grades and I got a D in one of my major upper level bio classes. I also had a D on my transcript that I submitted to AACPMAS but I guess that didnt affect me too much because I still received interview offers. How much will this D affect me in my senior year? I may retake the class my last semester (spring) to replace my grade. As of now, my app said I had a 2.69 sGPA and this will probably hurt it quite a bit, but it will be after and I'm guessing schools will not consider it part of the admissions process?

They will require your final transcripts and I'm sure they reserve the right to deny you last minute if they want. That being said, I'm sure you will be okay, just don't fudge up anymore.

You are probably supposed to use the "Academic Update" option on AACPMAS that opened December 17th to input your fall grades.

I saw that email about "Academic Update," but do you have to use it if you already got accepted?

Probably worth an email to your admissions officer to find out. This is just my opinion - once you've got an acceptance under your belt that you want to keep you are no longer in the business of pleasing AAMPCAS (or whatever its called). Your goal is to do whatever your admissions officer requires to keep your acceptance. So ask! As a final comment - to complete my matriculation at DMU I did need to send them complete final transcripts.

Yeah Kent said they wanted my final transcript so I figured that would cover any "Academic Update" they would require. Been procrastinating calling them about it, but I should get around to it today lol

Im taking post bacc classes, not the prereqs but science classes in general. I already have a bachelors. If i dont like a grade can i not do the academic update since i already graduated and my grades inputed or should i do it? I know i didnt get any D's or F's this semester but maybe 1 or 2 C+'s.

Just so you know, you can't get Cs in grad school. Buck up my friend!

Right but i need to know whether to do the academic update or not? The thing is the schools im interveiwing at already know im taking these courses since i mentioned it on my app so i dont think theres anyway to hide it. all i have to do is input the grades.

I would play it safe and disclose everything. I wouldn't want to have this kinda thing bite me in the arse later...especially since you already let AACPMAS know you are taking these classes.

Just an update, i just got an acceptance to a pod school. my term avg for this semester turned out to be a 2.0 which is absolutely terrible and not indicative of my effort. The courses I took were upper level bio courses which sort of screwed me because my finals were on the same day and were both worth 75% of my grades. But whatever, I can't go back now, my question is, should I disclose my D and my 2.0gpa term avg to the school? I'm sort of scared they are going to rescind my seat.

you have to disclose your grades, if your a senior, then you should do an academic update.

It really is not indicative of my grades overall though. I APed out of bio, chem, psych and calc. I never got to take gen bio1/2 or gen chem1/2 which most ppl get As in. I have been taking upper level bio and chem courses since my freshmen year.

What kind of a school do you go to?????? At most schools the class average for Gen Chem and Gen Bio are even below an 80%...well at least at Univ. of Michigan and my Lyman Briggs at MSU.

And I thought I was in a bad situation with having a 3.08 science and math GPA after getting a 2.0 (C) in BioChem and Physio, but a 2.69 science GPA without even taking Chem 1&2 AND Bio 1&2.

Believe it or not, but I would be more surprised that the AP credits in Chem and Bio may actually hurt your chances MUCH more than helping.
