So I was reviewing my transcript recently and I'm not quite sure how I missed this. Long story short is that I was originally a PA major at my school for the first year, and instead of the curriculum including general chemistry they had two other intro chemistry classes with a different name. The same topics were covered in this class as in general chemistry, but when I switched to a biology degree I was told I needed to take general chemistry II to get my degree and I ended up taking that the following summer.

It looks like my school considered the first two chemistry classes (combined) as a PA major as general chemistry I. My question is: will this not count as a pre req for schools? A lot of schools list "inorganic" as the pre req. I technically had 3 semesters of inorganic, but right now I'm freaking out that my app will be missing the first semester of inorganic due to my schools way of classifying chemistry classes.

This is definitely something I should have foreseen, but as a non traditional applicant it really didn't hit me until now. Does anybody have a similar experience or can anybody offer some advice?

Thanks!

No expert here, just a fellow applicant, but I don't think it would be a problem.

You could always call schools you are applying to, explain the circumstance and ask if it meets the requirement. IMHO, your school allowing you to enroll in Gen Chem 2 following those two classes indicates that you completed Gen Chem 1 material. Again, just my opinion.

Sounds like you have (more than) fulfilled the pre-requisites. I would not be concerned, and sincerely doubt it will be brought up at any point. Even if it were to be an issue for a school, you could take the semester course in the summer before you matriculate.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'll give some schools a call to get a better idea. I'm not too worried about the fact of having to take it in the summer should I be accepted somewhere. My big concern was that it would be a red flag on my application and possibly delay a review and/or interview invitation.
