Hi, I'm new here and have been reading up on a few past posts about summer classes.
I'm sorry but I'm getting mixed signals from the past topics
I am wanting to take a few summer classes in order to beef up my med app for the next cycle
But the thing about it is that I currently attend Rice university, and Rice is very expensive over the summer (problem as family makes sub-30K a year)
I was wondering if it was ok for me to take Cell Bio and Calculus II at a closer reputable state school (like Rutgers), where I can be close to home during the summer and pay much less
----------
Now here is where the serious question starts:
I noticed that in past topics, when people stop here with this question most would say that it is fine with a few possible drawbacks (that med schools may not like the fact that I'm taking the classes at a lower ranked school). but again, most would probably say that it is fine as long as I'm not taking Biochem or Orgo at Rutgers
But now, when someone says they want to take the summer classes at a closer reputable state school because it is much easier to raise their GPA (Rutgers would generally be easier), the board seems to go bananas and attack this person.
So I wanted to know what exactly is it?
Is it ok to take classes at a state school closer to home or is it not??
You can't judge two people separately for their intentions, when the classes they are going to take are the same...
--------------------
Med schools will only see the classes, not the intentions
These two students will be identical on paper
just because one took the classes because of financial problems
and one took the classes for an easy A
doesn't mean one is fine, and the other should go to hell
Both will look the same, and be judged the same
--------------
So the question returns loaded:
Is it really ok to take summer classes at a cheaper state university???
