i just read a thread you recently closed - and I had so many comments- only to see you closed it.

Sheesh.

And the civil unrest wasn't even that bad.

But...

I know keeping the peace... you'll get some criticisms no doubt. At least you don't get shot at. 🙂

Threads get locked sometimes when they have degenerated too far, reached the end of their useful life, the level of professionalism drops too low and the name calling ensues, or there are too many complaints.

Threads can be unlocked and/or resurrected every once in a while though.
