How are the SF match results announced?
Do I have to be at school on the day of the match?

I suppose if you didn't match, it'd be easier to be around your home base for the scramble. Otherwise where you are on the day of the match isn't going to affect where you matched. What are the disadvantages I face if I am not at my home school on the day of the match?
I just figured I'd share the wealth from my conversation with SF Match reps yesterday.
Regarding when you receive the news:
According to the person with whom I spoke, you will be emailed on the day of the match (January 14th) regardless of whether you've matched or not. The email will tell you if you matched, and if so, it will tell you where you matched.
Regarding programs contacting applicants:
Programs find out around the same time that deans' offices find out, which could mean sooner or later - some programs will choose to contact applicants directly, but according to the rep, this is "infrequent".
Thats odd, I spoke with SF match the other day and they said this year they will send an email on Jan. 13th ONLY if you don't match (so that those can scramble). If you DON'T get an email on the 13th, this means you matched and will be contacted by PD or your dean's office on the 14th.
In the end, who knows what will really happen, just check your email every minute on the 13th, hehe![]()
