I am a first year medical student who just finished the first set of exams and doing fine academically. I would like to get involved in one or two student organizations but I am worried about the time commitment. Since we have limited free time, I want to use it wisely.
If I have the option to use my time to do research instead of SGA, would it be more beneficial when time comes for residency apps?
I know this is not undergrad and I should do what I like, I am just asking because there are a lot of things I want to do but can only do one or two. I want to do things I like but at the same time can be useful down the line.

Sga is really something people do because they enjoy it. It’s a cool thing to add to an app, and I’ve heard of it talked about in interviews as a point of conversation...but nothing bolsters an app like working with those in a field to contribute to the body of knowledge.

X10 Bonus points if you’re on a study that actually adds to the field in a meaningful way.
