CA resident. Asian (first gen) . 3.4 GPA, 3.2 sGPA, 517 MCAT.
Major: Chemistry

Research:
4 years of immunology research with 1 publication

Shadowing:
So far ~100 hrs internal med, family practice, urology, and radiation oncology

Clinical EC:
~200hr clinical care extender

Employment
Currently hired as staff research in oncology department for 1 year; lot of clinical hours from work . 1 pub and 1 poster with a conference.

Please let me know any suggestions. I am thinking to apply both MD and DO schools.

I do not have a ton of knowledge about details, but i know CA is not a "lucky state," and is, therefore, tougher to gain admission too. CA, in general, is a tougher one. Your MCAT is high which will help to offset your slightly lower GPA, and you are planning on applying DO which is smart.

You should do some community service/ volunteering. Whether clinical or nonclinical, it solidifies your interest in helping your community as a doctor. I think you need alittle more clinical experience so trying gaining that through volunteering. Nonclinical volunteering is good to show a well-rounded person who serves others.
