Hello,

Working on my school list and would love any/all input--thank you! 🙂

sGPA: 3.85
cGPA: 3.66
MCAT: 34 (P 12/V 11/B 11)

Nontraditional applicant from top liberal arts school with double major in the humanities, graduated with departmental honors from unusual interdisciplinary major that gave evals instead of grades. Post-bac GPA 3.97.

UNDERGRADUATE ECS:
-varsity athlete (2 years)
-dance group (4 years)
-peer writing tutor (3 semesters)
-campus job as tech consultant (3 years)
-reading tutor (1 year)
-summer camp counselor (1 summer)
-kayak/snorkel tour guide (2 summers)
-study abroad semester
-honors on senior thesis (humanities)

POST-BAC ECS:
-DAAD Graduate Study Scholarship for year-long independent research project in the humanities in Germany after graduation.
-Volunteered at hospital ~35 hours in Germany.
-Volunteered as research assistant in neuroscience lab as post-bac for 10 months.
-job SAT/ACT tutor
-Pre-health volunteer program at hospital 10 months ~300 hours
-ER volunteer ~35 hours

-current job as patient coordinator at top NYC hospital
-current volunteer at free health clinic

Most likely applying as a CA resident (but could probably qualify as a NY resident as of this summer?).

Trying to cut this list down:

SUNY Downstate
Loyola Chicago
UVA

Drexel
NYMC

Thank you so much!😍

IMO, you are applying to way more schools than necessary. Your application is well-rounded and impressive, with your MCAT score being the weakest part of your application but only because the rest of your application is so great. You should have no problem getting into a top-tier program! It seems you have ordered your list from most to least competitive. I would cut your list off after the first 20, because the last 9 of these 20 minus northwestern should be adequate safeties.

Thanks so much for your reply! I guess I'm a bit nervous about applying too top-heavy and having to reapply.

I had the same fear and ended up wasting a ton of money... you'll get love from the top schools🙂 just like the other person said cut out some from the bottom of your list🙂

Thanks 🙂 I really appreciate the feedback. Now I'm thinking that after the first 20, I'll keep GWU, Stony Brook, Vermont, Rush, and Downstate. I would still love to cut down my list a bit more (and save that $$$$)--is it just kind of a toss-up for which ones to cut at this point? I could see myself happy at any of the places on the list. I know I'm applying to a lot of über-competitive schools and it's hard to say who they'll accept, but any advice would be appreciated!
