I got a call on 4/5 from the SGU admission office telling me that my application was placed on hold, and that they're reviewing my application again, and will get back to me in 2-3 weeks. But tomorrow's 5/1, I'm starting to get concerned. Is there anyone out there that got the same call, and have been accepted, or have not heard from them yet either?

You should not worry because you have 3-4 months before the Fall session.

Thanks for the reply.
Is it normal for St. George's to notify students up till the day of class?

I do not have any first-hand knowledge on the adcom, but it has happened that people are accepted up until the last week before the semester.

hey, sorry to hear about the hold.. i was just wondering when you applied?

I applied pretty early around 10/2006, and got an interview mid 11/2006 for the Fall 2007 class. It's been awhile since my interview, so I'm getting concerned as time goes on. They've been sending me info about the Global Scholar Program at UK, but Im still debating about putting myself in that application pool.

They are probably rechecking your credit score, lol...Dont worry, if your credit report checks 680+ you are in, lol... Since when do carib schools have holds:laugh:

Ever since they rejected people like you.

Sour grapes are harsh, eh?

lol
man, I've been obsessing about this whole waiting thing lately. need a good laugh. but, when they called me, they said that they are experiencing a larger amount of applications this year. Thus, the hold. I really do hope SGU can give me a chance in medicine. fingers crossed!

I remember my interview in August 1995. THe interviewer told me I got the interview by the skin of my teeth- I think somebody cancelled on them and I was available. He said how 2/5 reviewers gave me a no right of the bat.

We hit it off in the interview with several common interests and that is what landed me the spot. THen I just worked my a$$ off from 1996-yesterday. I would do it all over again.

Does any one out there know if there's other loans for students besides stafford loans?

Everyone wants to give you money for med school.
SGU arranges your financial aid.

Loans called: IHelp, EFG Platinum, EFG Select

Rates will vary and are 2-3x Stafford consolidated.

My total is 260k and I was a max borrower. Lots of people come out with 200k. A lot has to do with interest and capitalized interest back to the total if you defer all payments until you are done residency/fellowship like I did.

Getting married and having kids was a bigger priority than paying off my loans ASAP.

Lol, rejected from a carib school:laugh: That is even more funny than someone who isnt a US citizen, went to one of the best canadian universities, and end up paying topay 200K+ in cash to be in a carib school just to be a foreign student and begging for a US visa to do residency in MY country, all this while being so insecure than i feel that best way to feel better about myself is posting a pic of my ghostly white flab flesh in my SDN profile to feel like i am strong at something, wait... thats you:laugh:

The truth hurts, I know, but it is okay to admit that you were rejected and now you spend your time trying to make others feel as bad as you do on the inside.
