Hi, can someone recommend a DO in the LA area whom they know and whom wouldn't mind having a perspective DO student shadow them to get a better understanding of the occupation?

There are a lot of DOs in the LA area. Did you try looking in the phone book where you live & try calling some of them? It may sound weird, but a lot of prospective medical students who are planning to head the DO route do that. Its usually the best way if you really want to shadow a DO & learn more about the profession.
A lot of DO docs will be more than happy to have you spend a day or two with them & inquire about the DO profession. Most are even willing to write you a recommendation for medical school!!
They understand that this is usually the best route in learning wholeheartedly what a DO does & if its really the area for you. Hope this helps!!
