Hi all. I am in New York City and looking for a DO to "shadow" as they call it. I actually would really like to spend time with a DO to learn from and ask questions. From what I have read the osteopathic philosophy speaks to what I believe in and the way I would like to practice medicine. Also I have read many studies showing OMT to be effective and it is something that I would like to learn. Alot of osteopathic schools prefer letters of recommendation from a DO from what I have read and heard from admissions. I am taking the MCAT in August and I was hoping to spend time with a DO this summer if possible before secondary applications start. I was given a list of phone numbers of DOs from NYSOMS, who are very helpful by the way, but so far I have left messages with no response. Has anyone worked somewhere or with someone in the past that they could possibly refer me to. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You.
