shadow

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You could ask your dentist. Also if you have a relative who is a dentist or have family members that have a friend that is a dentist, that would help.

With no connections, simply call or e-mail as many dentists as you can. I'm sure there are plenty of dentists around your neighborhood. Another option is to actually show up at the clinic and tell them you are interested in shadowing/volunteering.

You'll get a few rejections, but keep trying. One of them will be nice enough to take you in.

DITTO or you can go to the internship/career center at your school and sign up for it. 😳

Hi,

I was wondering how u find someone to shadow?

thanks

Umm I don't now, maybe open your mouth and ASK? Seriously, if you need to ask this kind of question then your life is going to be so much more complicated.

I emailed a couple of dentist in my area and I ended up getting three replies saying to give them a call and we could set up a time. It all worked out for me. Good Luck....

Yeah, most dentists are cool people and eager to help you out. Just call. I wouldn't just show up asking for the dentist...most offices are very busy. But you could show up and drop off a note to the front desk to give to the dr...that works well.

Just don't be annoying and you'll find that you'll bank quite a few mentors in no time!

most dentists are good about helping you out. And all of the young dentists were in the same position that you are in with having to shadow so they are usually very helpful and understanding. And on top of that they like having someone around to watch and teach. It makes them feel important.
