Hey guys I'm from NY and I am reapplying this cycle and along with an MCAT retake, I thought a DO letter could really help my chances. My only problem is that I dont personally know any D.Os and the ones closest to me work in private practices. Should I call the office and ask the secretary that I am applying to medical schools and would really like to shadow Dr.XXXX to get a first hand experience of the medical field? Or should I just stop by and say that I would like to ask the Dr. a quick question? Sorry if this question is stupid!

I called the office but have heard people going in and having positive results

Yea just pop in and ask, give your name and number if they say that the doc lets people shadow. I have found that showing up works better than calling. It is a little scarier heh, but its worth it for sure.

Yeah, as others have said, go to the office in person to make the request. It's much more impressionable and shows more initiative than someone who they could perceive as just flipping through the phone book and calling everyone they see.
