Shadowing Advice and Upstate students

Hi, I'm new here and looking for some advice. I was accepted to Upstate's early admissions program and will begin fall 2006, but still have my senior year of undergrad to go. I am pretty much finished w/ all of my requirements so I'm filling my schedule with fun classes and extracurriculars. I am interested in shadowing a physician, not for the resume, obviously, but just b/c I love medicine and have opportunities at my university. I was wondering what type of Dr. you would recommend shadowing. I realize that it depends on my interests, but I thought that something with a lot of exposure may be helpful. I am interested in peds, and possibly onc/hemat., but I realize that field is very specific, and I may be exposed to more by shadowing a general surgeon or someone in a broader field. What do you think?

Also, for anyone who's attending Upstate, how have your experience been so far? Any advice? Housing suggestions? syracuse vs binghamton? etc...
