Shadowing Attire

So I was told my several people that I don't need to wear scrubs to shadow and some told me I should. What are yall's input on that? I mean, it would look more professional since I'll be meeting not only the doctor but the patients as well.

Scrubs? I never wore scrubs except for when i shadowed continuously at one ophthalmology office and they required it. I usually just wore professional/business casual clothing. Not really sure if everywhere is like this, but everywhere i went was okay with this. If youre unsure, i would ask the office.

Where I shadowed the techs wore scrubs and the docs wore business casual. Always better to ask.

I would just ask the dr. your shadowing. That's what I did, and I ended up having to wear just a dress shirt and pants and a tie. But, at one dr. I assumed that was the attire and I showed up in that to see the dr. not wearing a tie and he seemed to be offput by that. so i'd ask,

Shirt and tie for guys, something comparable for girls. Always better to be overdressed than under, an if you have to wear scrubs they'll probably have some you can change into around the office.

I wore business casual. You are shadowing the doctors, not the techs. Plus, some places have dress codes for scrubs, i.e. all techs wear navy. You don't want to show up wearing your pediatric RN aunt's XL scrubs with kittens all over the top and purple pants. That'd be awful. It's winter, wear a nice sweater and dress pants.

I wore business casual at all my locations, button-up, slacks, and dress shoes. Everywhere is different so just ask.

Unless expressly required (and it would be strange for a place to require to buy scrubs for shadowing, unless they were provided), always overdress. Business casual on the verge of business formal. A suit jacket or blazer is not out of line, nor are heels/pantyhose.
