Hi,
I just have a really quick question. I was wondering did anyone have a hard time finding a D.O. to shadow? It took me all night to find a few in my state, but I am just wondering if there are going to be fewer willing to help me out. If you can give me some tips, I'll greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Here in Minnesota, what I did was send an email to the local chapter of the AOA, giving some basic info about me and inquiring about how to find a DO to shadow.

Three days later, I got an email from a local DO who apparently has a fairly regular stream of students from Iowa and elsewhere. I'll be shadowing in his clinic next week.

I got lucky, I realize, but try your state's Osteopathic Medicine Association. Lightning might strike for you, too.

hi gr8

Try the DO national directory by clicking -------->HERE . Best Regards.

I checked my insurance plan for doctors in my area, including DO's.

Although that DO national directory site is great. I never knew it existed, thanks for the link.

The D.O. that I actually shadowed I found from the alumni page of one of the schools. I also stopped in at a Family Practice office down the road and asked the D.O. there about shadowing which he was happy to let me do, but the scheduling never worked out.

The DO that I shadowed actually did surgery on my knee. I was pretty fortunate to have a doc so willing to let me shadow him. He was the one who initially got me on the route to medicine and hooked me up with alot of experience along the way.
