Hey Guys!
I'll be taking MCAT and applying next year, so I wanted to get some shadowing hours in this summer so that I wasn't rushing to get some in sometime when I was busy studying for the MCAT/preparing my application. I'm looking to shadow a DO who specializes in OB/GYN, probably a family medicine DO, and at least one MD. There are only 2 OB/GYN DO's in my area and I've struck out with one as the hospital says, "Our hospital requires educational institutions to have an educational contract with us in order to provide students with official, school-sanctioned job shadow experiences. Your school does not have a contract with us. Therefore, we cannot provide you with an official, school-related job shadow experience."

I really want to push harder to shadow this specific doc as I know her pretty well; (she's invited me to shadow), and I'm decently sure she'll give me a glowing LOR. Can I contact my school's law office to possibly initiate this kind of contract? I didn't think shadowing would be this hard to set up, I'm just needing some advice.

Also, I do also plan on shadowing the other DO, but ultimately I wanted to shadow both doctors.

Thanks!

You will need to get without your school. With the legal climate, the hospital is looking to have you covered by the school should there be any liability issues.

Are you saying talk to my school, or go about shadowing somewhere else without the school contracts?
