So I got accepted into the 7 year optometry program with SUNY and I'm currently a freshman at St. Johns University. Dr. Johnston had told me to get experience from several (at least 3) optometric fields. I'm working at an optometrist's clinical office as of now.

I'm wondering if you guys can help me think of other sites I could possibly look into as I have some time on my hands now.

Thanks alot!

I have shadowed in low vision and I would recommend that. It is quite different from a general practice office. I don't think that I want to end up doing it but it definitely is a good experience and allows you to see a different side of optometry. You may also want to try shadowing in pediatrics, vision therapy (which I think is pretty cool), a VA hospital, or a community health clinic. Hope this helps!

I'd ask the OD you're working for now. It should be easier to get set up if referred by another OD
