Before I drift into unconsciousness, I need to ask a question. A few of my secondaries are asking whether or not I've shadowed a physician, and one is asking for names. Never in my life have I made an appointment with a doctor and followed them around all day. This is because, as a function of my work, I am always with doctors while they're treating patients in the ICU. I often have lunch with them in the cafeteria, and sometimes I even go to parties with them. (This includes both MD's and DO's.)

I'm guessing that the overall effect is the same, but can I claim that I've shadowed? If I can't, does it really matter, given that my essays make it somewhat clear that I work with doctors in a clinical setting? I just hate empty spaces on the application...

It doesn't sound like you can/should mark YES for that question, but if there are lines for a description, you could talk about your work related experience that has had the same result as shadowing, if you didn't do so elsewhere.

If not, I wouldn't feel so bad about having to put NO. You could even call a school or two and ask if what experience you've had qualifies you to mark YES. Just a thought.
