As a high school senior, I decided to start shadowing a physician. Im interested in being a heart surgeon but the physician I am going to shadow will most likely be a family doctor. Does that have any negative effect on my career goals?
thank you

thank you

you're fine.

At this stage in the game, it's good to get some diverse exposure. It definitely won't hurt to have shadowed a family practice doc when applying to med school (esp since many medical schools have a primary care focus).

hahah she is not that much older then me !!!

she is probably my sister's age
If you are posting in hSDN, you are expected to be a High School Student...unless you are the world's oldest HS student, I can assure you I am more than "not much older" than you.

And how old is your sister?

If you take into account that surgery is a second career for me (after an undergraduate, graduate degrees and starting a PhD with 10 years of medical research), add in 4 years of medical school, 8 years of surgical residency and fellowship, 2+ years in practice, I'd wager I'm probably older than you think.
