UNLV is a great school for all of those people who have ever read this 786 spikeys posts, he is not in dental school, he claims to be a third year here. Ask one of the 4th years that really go here. In addition to the 3 letters, a letter from a dentist you have observed or worked for is required. Not all schools have prehealth professions committees. If your school does, then a committee letter will fulfill the requirement of three letters.

I guess it is true when they say that people do lie on the internet. I thought people only lie about their GPA and DAT scores, but to say that you are in dental school when you aren't, what a monster He/she pulled it off pretty well, I must admit. I certainly fell for it 😳

I actually wouldn't rule out the possibility that he goes to UNLV, perhaps he just lied about being a DS3. Some of his complaints may have some merit, but from the sounds of it we should expect struggles no matter which school we go to.

This is probably the funniest thread I've read on SDN. But anyways, I don't think it matters to me if 786 goes to UNLV Dental or not. I can see how he is upset if he does go there. I applied to UNLV this year, and pretty much got the boot, but I will be definately reapplying next year. The D-4 students did haev to go through a lot of changes, and progression, but of course your going to go through all this if your going to a NEW SCHOOL! Anytime you open a new business or school its not going to be PERFECT. But obviously UNLV Dental School has gone through tremendous changes, and is always looking to improve. I personally believe UNLV is probably one of the best schools in the country because Vegas is a Mecca for Dentists. If you ask why?? Then just PM and I'll give you my reasoning.

i am in the same boat as iceman, i have over 170 credits with an average 2.7 gpa and 3.0 science gpa. with so many credits its very hard to bring up the gpa. i have been working in the dental school for over 2.5 years now, so i know certainly how things go. all the faculty know me and all of them know i am applying. some of them have even written very nice letters of recommendations for me. but still, i am not taking any chances. i am applying at arizona, ucla, unlv, nova, craighton and maybe pacific. i am just got my last LOR today from my biology teacher. so all the basics pre-reqs are done. i will be taking the DAT sometime in august, and i plan to take off some time from work and study with all my sincerity on the DAT and try to get 21-25 and prove to these admissions people that i mean business. i am sure some of you, the min you hear that i've been working at the dental school and work with faculty will win my "special teatment" actually its been the opposite. the admissions people did not sound too enthusiastic of this idea and even suggested that i quit before i apply. anyhow, because i know my gpa is low and most of the look for gpa first, what other colleges do you all recommend? i do not mind moving to anyother state or starting fresh.

I wonder which dental school 786mine was working at? Any guesses?

Dude, 786he/she doesnt go to UNLV. Several people have posted quite irrefutable evidence showing that 786 is a fraud and had many of us fooled. Just last April he/she was asking about what schools to apply to and crying about he/she's low gpa score and blah blah blah. This person is your typical "e-thug, e-cool person, e-i know all" anonymous internet troll.

I have heard nothing but great things about UNLV from all the d3's and d4's I have spoken to, and I have several friends who are d1's right now and even though they are under tremendous stress and constantly tell me how ridiculously hard it is, they say they are very happy and wouldnt go anywhere else.

Listen, no one is fingerpointing at you for your comments about UNLV; we are fingerpointing at you because all empirical evidence suggest that you are a liar. I initially applauded you for your HONESTY because I don't think people should be censored b/c they happen to think ill of a school--I was merely supporting the right to free speech even if no one wants to hear it. i had a similar situation with umdnj. i applied in july, sent them their secondary fee in the beginning of october, and never heard from them. in that time, i heard from each of the 4 other schools that i applied at and got interviews at all. i got accepted to the 3 schools where i attended an interview, and i emailed nj a couple times since. even though they were my last choice and i didnt want to go there, it annoyed me that they took my money and never sent me anything. i called 2 weeks ago and the lady didnt understand why i havent heard, saying my app was still under review. then a couple days later i got a rejection letter. i feel like they lost my application or something up until i called. i know i shouldnt be angry bc i did get into my top choice, but its annoying that they ignored me. i mean, what if nj was my top choice?

Exact same thing happened to me at NYU ...
They gave the AP admission director the boot following several similar incidents ...
