Shaum's bio or Cliff's?

I have a 2nd edition of Cliff's. It looks like an easy read. Shaum's seems more complex. Which one is better of the two for those of you who got at least a 22+ on Bio. Thanks.

The reading on Schuam is very dense, boring, and very few diagrams. It does cover everything though. I say go with the Cliff first. Then go with Schuam (only if you want to score a 22 or above.) In fact after reading Schuams I think I rather read the entire campbell's book. Its that much easier to swallow even though its 600 more pages.


If you only need like a 19 for bio then only go with cliff.

I have to agree with poprock. My goal was to sit down and try to read 2 chapters of Schaum's everyday. However, as soon as I was done with the 1st chapter, I always fell asleep. This is due to the complexity and the presentation of the material. It is extremely boring. However, it is an excellent supplement. A huge difference between Kaplan BB Bio and Schaum's Bio. For people who have seen AP Cliff's Bio, is it along the same lines as Schaum's? Or is it an easier, more satisfying read?

Cliffs is alot easier reading. I have decided to use that instead of my schaums. After I memorize cliffs I will probably read schaums for the sections i am weak in. Cliffs is pretty much in an outline form so it makes it easy to follow and there are lots of diagrams to go along with the outlining.

I would not rely on only "cliffAP bio". In my experience, you would need more source to study in Bio. 🙄

cliffAP bio or barronAP bio plus a intro bio textbook for supplement should be good for bio. also check out my blog for more info

This is regarding placenta origin. In kaplan blue book, bio question number 11 asks "whats involved in respiration and excretion and develops into placenta?", and the answer is allantois in the back of the book.

In cliffs, it says chorion is placenta and allantois is umbilical. Now although kaplan mentions allantois being umbilical cord in the answer section, it only adds "it will connect the fetus to the placenta".

The key word would be "excretion "in the question which only allantois is capable of, not chorion.

I think what I have stated is correct, but does anyone else have any additions that can clarify/affirm my thought process?

although i dont know the correct answer but I would go with stuff in cliffap bio. I remember kaplan had alot of errors when i was studying with it

I actually took embro a long time ago. As I recall the allantois is used for gas exchange. The chorion is more of a protective shell. So I would say kaplan is correct.

Yeah, differentiating between the two are difficult. From what I've studied the following is what i have:

The allantois forms into the umbilical cord. The key function to remember about the allantois is excretion. The allantois also helps with gas x/c and nutrition.

The chorion gives rise to the placenta. Also function in gas x/c.

to someone who took the dat recently.. would you say cliffs explains things in a lot more detail than the dat needs? or would you say everything in cliffs is absolutely essential to know? im a biology major there are so many terms in this cliffs book i have never even heard of before!
