For those of you whose schools give the shelf exams at the end of the semester, basic science. What is the average score people at your schools are getting on them.

For those of you whose schools give the shelf exams at the end of the semester, basic science. What is the average score people at your schools are getting on them.

I think our class average was a 47 percentile for physiology and 65 percentile for the biochemistry.

yeah but do you know what it translated to in terms of the 3 digit score.

I believe the shelf scores for my class have always fallen in the range of 500-600.

The NBME basic science shelf exams have an average of 500 with a standard deviation of 100, and (I think) the NBME clinical shelf exams have an average of 70 with a standard deviation of 8.

My school's average was always right around 70 (500)

Anatomy ~580
Physiology ~ 560 or 570
Histology ~630
Neuroanatomy ~670

For the past 2-3 years, the Step 1 average has been about 234. Hope this helps.

I go to Indiana University SOM. Like I said, the shelf exam averages were for my class (2011), and the Step 1 averages were just for the past 2-3 years (classes of 2010, 2009).
