shelf exams

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Shelf exams are subject exams provided by the NBME. They're a way for schools to find out how their students compare nationwide in various subjects (surgery, psych, etc). You generally take them at the end of your clerkships, depending on whether the clerkship director and/or the school wants the students to take it. They consist of 100 multiple choice vignettes... painfully similar to the board exams.
