Hi everyone! I'm a second year pretty interested in shelter and community medicine once I graduate and was hoping some of you would have input/advice on the best course of action after graduation and on shelter medicine internships/residencies. I was originally planning on concentrating a lot of my fourth year externships on going to different shelters in different areas, since we don't have an established shelter medicine program quite yet at UW and then applying to positions from there. I know since it's such a new specialty that there might not be much out there, hence my problem in trying to decide if doing a shelter med internship/residency is worth it. Any input/thoughts would be super appreciated!

Since you haven't gotten any replies here, it might be worthwhile to email the program directors at a couple places (Dr. Hurley at UCD is super nice) and asking them to put you in touch with current and/or former residents at those programs.
