Hi Guys. I just want to know people's opinion.
I just got accepted into those two schools, but I can not just easily decide which school to go.
Please post what you think.

Don't know much about Jefferson but I interviewed and got accepted into Shenandoah. I was very impressed by how they handeled the admissions process as well as the interview. Everything was very nice and prompt. The faculty and staff were all very nice and helpful. I felt very welcome by all and liked it a lot there.

They are both newer programs but Shenandoah has been accredited for a few years.

The only thing I could not stand was the location. My undergrad studies were in a rural setting. I wanted to move away from that to a more city setting.

Shenandoah is accredited while Jefferson is not. There are two other well established pharmacy schools in Philly so it may be more difficult to find internship positions and rotation spots.

I agree with the employment difficulty for Jefferson. I know many employers in the area only recruit from USP and/or Temple. I would imagine, however, that living in Philly is more fun than living in Winchester.

BTW, eekOMG, why the sad face about VCU? I heard it's a good program.

They're hiring from those schools because the students from Jeff are at most 2nd years now but should be competitive given they do fine on their rotations. This is really not about school but more focused on student, the job market, and Jeff is no means worse than the other two in reputation of students or faculty or the mentors. Go with what feels best to you though.

It's not about the students and institution like you mentioned, but it's about the fact that there are too many pharmacy students in Philly and so it may be more difficult to find opportunities. Since Jefferson's pharmacy school opened only 2 years ago, they have not had the experience of 4th year rotations yet; so it should be interesting to see how all the Philly pharmacy students may be affected especially with three pharmacy schools less than a couple of miles away from each other.

I am speaking from personal experience with places I interviewed for (internships). Places just don't recruit interns from Jefferson. Most places recruit from USP/Temple, just because they know what to expect of those students. Come graduation time, a similar situation may arise with local employers.
