I am looking for a short book, probably one geared toward those in medicine, that explains surgical procedures with significant detail, yet is still succinctly (not a 1000p+ text book). I thought someone here might have a suggestion.
The reason that I am looking for such a book is that I am working in the OR of my local hospital for the summer. I would like to be able to know some of the basic details of the surgeries I am watching. Thus far my only sources of info have been the surgeons themselves and some books directed at lay audiences. These books simply do not contain sufficient detail, as I would to see more of the anatomy, the procedure itself, and the indications and risks for the procedure in terms of actual numbers, not generalities as in books intended for the general public. I was thinking one of those pocket type books intended for clerkships/residencies???
Oh...and I am in undergrad...premed...gonna be a Jr. if that has any bearing on any suggestions.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
