Let's just say i'm a total geek. Wait, that's too much of an honor already!

Anyhoo..
Even though my GPA is 3.88, I know i'm far from competitive for I have yet to take the PCAt. On top of that, looking back, I haven't really done anything. For the past 2 years of my college life, even up until now (I'm a junior), all I've been doing are school, work, and work some more. I'm working at a pharmacy right now so this probably help but other than that, I really don't do much. I've not been involved in school, have never been to a game, have never made any friend (not acquaintances), and have never even been to a club nor a college party. Isn't that sad? I"m in my 3rd year right now. As much as I want to be involved, I don't know where to start. My club is not that active so really, there isn't anything to do in there. I feel so down lately as someone just pointed out ...I have no social skill. I'm just a book-worm. Yet, ironically, i'm not good at verbal!?! Why is that? Lately, I wonder whether or not I should be scare of this lack of involvement. I meant, what is there for me to discuss during my interview? What they bring up my lack of involvement? What would I have to explain? Surely, there must be a real family crisis going on here. Unfortunately, I have none.

ooOOoo I'm so bummed....

Schools may question your lack of involvement, but you can start to discuss what you have done recently, and your committment to your job and your classes. Its not too late to start getting involved. Professional schools do want to see someone who "had a life" as well as got good grades. Start out by volunteering at something you enjoy or finding a hobby that is not pharmacy related.

You said you have no social skills, is that because you havent been exposed to social situations or is it because you fear them? I have spent many years dealing with social anixiety, so I know how difficult it can be to just "go meet people".

I wouldn't blame it on social anxiety but I couldn't say that i'm savor-faire. I"m not really shy but then again, i'm not "bold" enough to make new friends either. Two years ago, I had to juggle two jobs, work, and along come family responsibilities. Looking back, I remember there were a lot of people who did reach out to me and offer their friendships. But at that time, I was so drained with everything to even consider hanging out, you know. As I work in the pharmacy with my peer group who go to the same school, I realized I don't know anything about my school. I can't relate to their parties, their experiences, etc. I was out of the conversation a lot because there's nothing I could say about that. I feel socially inept lately. I often pass the people who had reached out to me and whom I had rejected and I feel so uncomfortable. I feel bad for letting my old friends down. Now that I'm relieved of my family responsibilities, I have no one. I can't blame anyone now because I have never been reaching out to anyone anyway.

I'm a junior now. I'll graduate in 2007. If I don't make friends now, there's no way I can make friend in my senior year because I know I'll be bombarded with tons of work such as senior thesis, research, applying for pharm, etc.

What a waste!

In case you haven't gotten my point, I was wondering this because i'm afraid they will start asking me what I do besides going to school. I'm not in any organization. I've never volunteer. I don't play any sport...etc.. you get the idea.

All i have is a year of experience in pharmacy. I don't know if that is enough but i heard that they place a lot of emphasis on extracurricular activities or watnot. I know i can start joining some organizations now but i'm trying to study for the PCAT. Along with that, I have to work and do my regular schoolwork. AS for this year, I don't see how i'm going to have time for anything else but if I don't start doing those stuffs now, i'll not have time to do it next year because i've to do my honor thesis and other works required to graduate.

Anywhoo, just wondering if I get penalize for that. Ooo yeah, maybe i should post it in pre-pharmacy. My bad!
