Hey SDN, I was wondering if I should apply to a SMP with a linkage with a medical school.
I have 4 interviews: from Rowan SOM (which was completed a month ago, with no response), Nova Southeastern MD, and Nova Southeastern DO, and from LECOM. I only submitted in September, so I am convinced that I might not get in anywhere this cycle. I am on hold at Penn State, and am a NJ resident. I'm doing a gap year and working for City Year atm. My cGPA is a 3.67 and sGPA is a 3.7, and my MCAT is a 512 (130/127/127/128).

I applied to NYITCOM, LECOM, Rowan SOM, PCOM, and Nova Southeastern when it came to DO schools. For MD schools, I applied to NJMS, RWJ, Cooper (which hasn't gotten to my app yet), Penn State, Nova Southeastern, Temple, Drexel, Thomas Jefferson (I currently am working in Philly and went to school near there), and also Geisingher. Some of my forms got to Seton Hall a little late, but I also applied there too.

I also thought my extracurricular were decent since I had a leadership position in my fencing club, did leadership stuff in the dorm, was hired as a tutor, I also worked part time fixing books in the library, I volunteered at the hospital (150 hours-- which is a little on the low side), shadowed doctors (~60 hours), I volunteered all 4 years (like 400 hours??), I did basic research and completed a thesis, and I also took high level chemistry classes too. I also did some interesting internships my freshman year too with non-profits.

I've also recently sent letters of interest to Temple, Drexel, Rowan SOM and RWJ, so best of luck?

I don't know if I did something wrong of if they all just hate me cause I applied a month late, admittedly I haven't been rejected anywhere officially.

It's a special masters program, its usually for people with a lower GPA, but some also have linkages.

Did you already receive decisions from your interviews?

It's a little early to start worrying. Just be patient and try to crush your upcoming interviews. Check back in during February or March if you still haven't gotten in somewhere.

You applied way to little md schools, but overall you have some time till Feburary and see how it goes

I can't recommend an SMP.

I recommend rewriting all your apps, making sure that you fix any deficits in your app, have a strategic school list, and apply early in the next cycle.

I suggest getting off campus and out of your comfort zone, and engage in service to others less fortunate than yourself.

I checked out Georgetown's SMP and they are rolling-admission that starts accepting apps. Do you think applying in Feb/March to general SMPs would be too late?
