I'm a third yr at UCSD
I have a 3.85 GPA and I'm planning on taking my MCAT in January and I'm confident I can get a decent score with some hard work.
EC:
100 hrs for Red Cross as blood donor ambassador
100 hrs at a local food bank (distributing free food packages to low income families)
100 hrs as a volunteer at a hospital
Started working for a clinical psycology lab in July
Staff writer and treasurer for a student run biomedical journal
Planning on becoming a hospice volunteer
My issue is that I'm worried because I don't have anyone in mind for letters of rec (possibly a bio professor I plan on becoming a TA for later in the yr who already knows me and my PI from my lab but honestly I don't have much of a relationship with her) and I'm not sure how my EC's really look competitively.
I just can't decide if I should wait and apply my 4th year and build up my application. I would like to go to a school in CA but I realize that's a tall order
