Hi, I am new to this forum. I am sure this kind of question has been asked many many times, but I would like to ask again. I want to go to an osteopathic school, but I don't know I have the numbers to back me up. My GPA is 3.46 (our school is so anti-grade inflation, btw) and my MCAT score (just found out this morning) is 27. I have so-so EC's; my major highlight being that I am doing some research now at a university. I have never shadowed a D.O. but I plan to do so some time this summer.

I am pretty sure I can improve my MCAT score; I think I was kinda nervous when I took it. So I am thinking of retaking it in August.

Should I go ahead and apply? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dude, definitely apply. I know a ton of people with your exact stats that got in this year. The trick is to get your application out asap... meaning before August.

You will get into DO schools with those stats. Before I improved my stats, I got into several schools with lower stats than you. Don't hold anything back----get all apps done now and scores sent. You can always update your info later.

DO or MD schools will accept applicants with those stats. You should not be worried about those numbers. I would say apply now. Good luck.

You really need to get some contact in with a DO. Some schools will not waive the DO letter requirement so shadow one or interview with one if you want to apply to the schools that require the letter. Those EC's are very important.
