I just took my DAT today and I am not sure if I should apply this cycle because of my scores:

Perceptual Ability: 17
Quantitative Reasoning: 18
Reading Comprehension: 21
Biology: 18
General Chemistry: 19
Organic Chemistry: 16
Total Science: 17
Academic Average: 18

I have a 3.53 GPA with a 3.13 Science GPA, and I have around 200 hours worth of shadowing, dental volunteer experience, and other volunteer experiences.

I'm stuck on what to do. I want to apply this cycle, but I am not sure if I should go ahead and apply with the scores that I have or retake the DAT (earliest I can retake it is in October) and risk losing seats even more due to a late application.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!

IMO, your scores at too low for the vast majority of dental schools, especially with a low science GPA. I would definitely call schools on your list and give them your stats, they can best advise.

You are very close, you just need to bring those science scores up a bit, especially Orgo.

Feel free to PM is you would like some more advice.

Just my 2 cents

Nancy
