Hey, I was wondering if i should apply this cycle. I am currently studying for my DAT and expect to take the exam late November, meaning I would get my verified score in Mid-December allowing me to send in my application. Schools such as NYU, USC, Creighton, LECOM, and a few more have a February 1st deadline. I graduated from UCLA with a 3.7 overall GPA in History. My science GPA is a 3.51 and my BCP GPA is a 3.48. I am aiming to score a 20+ on my DAT and wanted to know if its worth applying mid-late December.

I'd say no. The schools you listed are all expensive private schools, and you should be aiming to get into a cheap (hopefully state) school. December is too late because schools will have already sent out acceptances starting Dec 2nd, so you'd be competing against very, very few seats. Give yourself the best possible shot and apply early next cycle with your Nov DAT.

Also, everyone aims to score high on their DAT, but sometimes that just doesn't happen, so plan for that worst case scenario too. You wouldn't want to have applied but then find out you scored low and would need to retake.

I would also say no. You do have a chance to get in post December but it’s risky. Unless you have couple of thousand dollars burning a hole in your pocket

No, from me as well. As mentioned, it will be too late in the game for them to look at your app since you're looking into December when all preliminary acceptances have been given out.

I would not apply this cycle.

Focus on crushing for the DAT and getting all your other materials ready (LORs, personal statement, etc.) for next cycle and apply early!

Good luck and let me know if I can be of any further help!

Thank you so much! I want to know your opinion on taking some easy 'other science' classes such as astronomy and nutritional sciences as I am studying for my DAT. Both classes are online and do not require much work. Im planning on taking biochem and anatomy in the spring after I am finished with my DAT.

If those classes interest you and you want to take them for fun then go right a head, but don't think they'll help you have a leg up in the application process. I took astronomy and loved it.

Taking additional science courses, whether they are "easy" or "hard" is definitely smart to improve your sGPA and GPA in its entirety. Being able to show a trend of performing well in science classes, regardless of the exact subject, is important to highlight.
