I have pretty good stats but NO RESEARCH...

AA/TS/PAT 21/23/17
Cumulative 3.65
Sciences 3.7
BCP 3.8

Ive been shadowing/volunteering at a dental office for about 2 years. Should I still apply to these schools even though they are heavy research oriented ?
Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

I never understood why so many people ask this question (I mean no offense by the way). There is absolutely NO requirement by UCLA or UCSF saying that you have to do research to gain admission to these schools. Furthermore, I also understand that a lot of people believe that these two schools are very "research oriented" and "because they're so focused on research they suffer clinically." It's true that research is part of these two schools, but that in no way implies that your skills in a clinical setting will suffer because of this fact.

To answer the original question, yes you should apply if you want to go to these two schools. It doesn't matter if you have this gpa, or that DAT score, or whatever amount of research. Plain and simple: if you like the school and want to go there, then apply there!!! Lastly, I want to say that I had approximately....oh that's right, ZERO hours of research in my undergraduate years. I'm going to UCLA now, and was accepted to UCSF as well.

What are you talking about Mrxle? UCLA and UCSF have 20 hours a week of required research hours in our second year. Did you fall asleep during orientation?

Is this on top of the 1438 hours of mandatory community service we must perform? Darn it, should've stayed awake during orientation!
