I took the DAT on 08/03/09 with only 1 and a ½ hours of sleep. I was not up cramming I just couldn’t fall asleep, probably because of stress. Anyway, this is what I got:
PA--------20--------85.4%
QR--------13--------15.3%😱
RC--------19--------59.7%
Bio--------24--------98.7%
GC--------19--------73.0%
OC--------22--------91.5%
TS--------22--------96.0%
AA--------19--------77.2%
I’m hoping to have my application done sometime this week but I have second thoughts about applying because I completely bombed on the math. The next time I’ll be able to retake the exam would be in November and it will be my 4th time.
Last year, I had my application e-submitted at the end of September. I took my DAT the beginning of November. My scores were: PA 20, QR 16, RC 18, BIO 20, GC 17, OC 21, TS 19, AA 18. My GPA is 3.25 and science GPA is 3.13 (this is counting a 5 credit F in organic chemistry; I got an A the second time I took it). I didn’t even get an interview for 2009. (My first attempt is not even worth mentioning). Even though I improved, the 13 in QR made this the most disappointing score sheet I ever had to look at.
Do I have a chance with these scores if I apply and pay by the end of this week and don’t retake the exam in November? What are your opinions?

I would apply with those scores. Some schools are strict about cutoffs, others aren't. I would definately say to call the schools you plan on applying to prior to and make sure you aren't wasting your money if they have a no exceptions 15+ rule or something.

I'll probably apply. If I don't get any interviews early i'll just take the exam again.

i had the same problem buddy lol

QR:19, RC:22, Bio:19, GC:20, OC:30, TS:21, PAT:19, AA:21

I'm not retaking, i studied like crazy for 6 weeks i was getting 18-20's on all of my kaplan practice test sections so idk what happened with QR.

i cant see how the low math score would keep me out of every school i applied but if it does, so be it. i'll retake and reapply next year. what's another year in a potential 40-year career as a dentist. GOOD LUCK!

Seriously!? You're comparing a 13 and a 19? How is that the same problem?

OP - your TS is still awesome! I'm not saying you won't have problems but some schools MIGHT be able to overlook the low QR score. The GPA is more of a problem than your QR score imo.

You have a 19 in math, that is a great score! You definitely don't need to reapply

When you first look at my GPA it may seem like its kind of low. However, I'm hoping that schools actually look at my classes and see that the GPA includes a 5 credit F and a 5 credit C- in physics 1. I have a lot of science classes on my record; my bio classes are mostly A's, I have an A in organic 1, A- in organic 2, B in physics 2, B in gen chem 1, B- in gen chem 2. I majored in bio and minored in health And nutrition.

Some schools have a cut-off with the GPA. I think it was university of Alabama that told me not to even bother applying if my GPA is below a 3.5, which is ridiculous because some colleges are harder than others.

I'm hoping for the same thing as you my friend!

If I were you, I would submit the application as soon as possible and tell the schools that you will take the DAT in November...just don't send in your scores yet. Let them judge you by the rest of your application...schools just want any reason to reject applicant and a 13 Qr is a good enough reason for them. Submit application now, and sign up for the DAT as soon as you can.

I had my hopes up that schools can overlook the 13 in QR if they see a 22 in science and a 24 in bio, and maybe assume that something went wrong since I got a 16 in QR last time and obviously studied much harder for this test. The percentiles pretty much say: "85% of applicants scored higher on math but only 1.3% scored higher on bio, and only 4% scored higher on the total science"

I was hoping that schools look for reasons to accept people rather than reject them.

I believe not everyone is perfect @ every section!!! Just keep trying!!! Never lose hope... Good luck and God bless you!!!😉

ha, seriously, i hope you meant a 10 instead of a 19. that's just insulting lol. but i'm assuming you really meant a 19 since your AA is a 21.
